Have 5540 installed to desktop PC (Win 7 圆4) via USB cable and all is well. Business PCs, Workstations and Point of Sale Systems.Printer Wireless, Networking & Internet.DesignJet, Large Format Printers & Digital Press.Printing Errors or Lights & Stuck Print Jobs.Notebook Hardware and Upgrade Questions.The only one I'm uncertain about is the last one - but I'm assuming it's all installed and configured okay, because everything else seems to be working. Make sure that: - the computer is turned on - the computer and the printer are properly connected with a USB cable - the recommended HP printer software is installed and configured on the computer.' I then get a message saying 'Connection Required.
When I press the icon for my computer, I get a short 'Accessing.' message as it attempts to connect. PS Update: After an overnight switch-off, today - when I press 'Scan' - the printer is bringing up a list with my computer at the top (the other entry says 'No computer listed'). I've tried downloading the 'Scan Doctor' and running the 'fix', but it still hasn't worked after following all the instructions, including unplugging, restarting the PC, etc. The only 'software' I can find is the downloaded 'Printer Assistant', which doesn't have a 'Scanner Actions' tab. It then gives instructions to 'Open the HP Printer software, select 'Scanner Actions', and then select 'Manage Scan to Computer'. When I press the 'Scan' icon on the printer, I get an error message that says 'No Computer Found'. (I'm using a USB connection, by the way). But the printer refuses to scan to my PC. I did the set up online and the printer and copier work without a problem. I've just purchased an HP Envy 5540 All-in-One and installed it on my PC, running Windows 7 Home Edition (64-bit).
